Thank you for calling Cuyahoga EITC Coalition’s Automated phone line.

Due to CoVid-19 restrictions, we are unable to prepare tax returns in person at this time, but we are able to provide assistance using video conferencing.  We are closely following the Governor of Ohio’s guidance and will return to in-person appointments as soon as we can assure the safety of you and our volunteers. For updates on the status of our in-person filing services, please visit our website at

As an alternative to in-person filing, we are now scheduling appointments for three different types of virtual tax preparation services.

For each type of appointment, you will need the social security cards for you, your spouse (if filing jointly), and all dependents, a photo ID for you and your spouse, as well as all your tax documents. In order to schedule your appointment, an email address and a phone number to contact you by are required. Once scheduled, we will send you a confirmation email, and one of our tax preparers will contact you over the phone to help you prepare for your appointment.

If you own rental property, the coalition is unable to prepare your return.  Finally, if you are self-employed or need to have tax returns prepared for multiple years, the only option available at this time is our virtual drop-off procedures.  If your household income is over $57,000, unfortunately we are unable to assist you. (fill in the blank).

Please listen carefully to the 3 virtual appointment options available.

1.      Virtual Live Appointment: To participate in a virtual live appointment, you will need a camera on your smartphone, laptop, or computer; however, a smartphone is recommended. You will be speaking with an IRS-certified tax preparer live, in real time, and you will be showing the tax preparer your documents using the camera on your electronic device. The tax preparer will help guide you through how to use your electronic device to allow us to see your documentation, such as social security card, driver’s license, W2, etc. At the end of this process, once approved, we will e-file your tax return.

2.      Virtual Drop-Off: Similar to our in-person drop-off procedures, this process allows you to securely upload pictures of your documents to our secure tax preparation software (MyTAXPrepOffice). During the initial appointment with an IRS-certified tax preparer, he/she will describe for you the process and answer any questions you may have about sending us your tax documentation. The tax preparer will then have 72 hours to complete the return and then arrange a time with you to review the completed tax return with you over the phone.  At the end of this process, once approved, we will e-file your tax return.

3.      Facilitated Self Assistance (FSA): This option is for taxpayers who would like assistance while completing their own taxes on a free file tax website. An IRS-certified volunteer will be with you on the phone and available to answer tax-related questions as you work your way through the tax software.  NOTE: Our volunteers will not have experience with all of the free file tax software available but are knowledgeable enough to help guide you as needed.
