Online Basic Course

This course is for new Volunteers. It will require approximately 2-3 hours to complete and is a series of slides and examples. Take notes or print the slides.
Online Returning Student Course

This course is for Volunteers who were certified last year. It will cover all required material to pass the exam but will focus on changes or new tax law. The course will require approximately 2-3 hours to complete and is a series of slides and examples. Take notes or print the slides.
Online Practice Lab

the IRS offers an online version of TaxWise to help you get familiar with the software and prepare for certification. In the first screen, enter the password: learntwo
Follow the on-screen instructions to create a user account.
Online Basic Test

The online test will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete. It is helpful if you have a hardcopy of the IRS 4012 "Volunteer Resource Guide" available when taking the test. If you don't have a copy of 4012 then use visit our Resources page. One big hint is that most of the answers for the Basic Test are found directly in the Basic Course. A final hint is don't overthink the scenarios read the questions carefully but the IRS isn't trying to trick you.
