About The Coalition
At the end of 2004, the informal group became the
Cuyahoga EITC Coalition, and in January, 2005, the Cuyahoga County
Department of Employment & Family Services awarded the Coalition a
$200,000 grant to provide comprehensive services pertaining to the EITC
for the 2006 tax season. Coalition members are available at every
point along the EITC service continuum to serve low-wage workers.
Work will include: outreaching on defining the EITC, operating VITA tax
sites, training volunteers to prepare tax returns, building clients’
wealth, advocating for clients on legal issues such as IRS audits and
tax cases and researching policy issues impacting the EITC and low-wage
taxpayers.
